We had real good flying weather from Abbotsford to Madras and going by Seattle we even had to stop our climb at 14,000 feet to let a Boeing B757 pass by. We always like the trip to Madras flying past the volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest.
We had departed Abbotsford early and arrived in Madras before noon, in time to see the show planes arriving and the various cars for display in the show. It turned out to be a real impressive car show with various car models that I had never seen before.
The Erikson Aircraft Collection museum had many of their aircraft on static display and many were also flying in the show Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
Saturday afternoon there was a very unfortunate accident taking the life of Marcus Paine in his Boeing-Stearman Model 75. The show was suspended to deal with the immediate issues on the field.
The weather changed with unexpected very high surface winds so the remainder of the show was cancelled.
